Lake Murray Presbyterian Church contracted Quackenbush Architects + Planners to perform a feasibility study investigating a number of concerns for their growing campus. The study explored siting strategies and conceptual plans for a new Children’s Ministry Building; analyzed space utilization across the entire campus; provided recommendations for expanding parking and improving traffic flow; and culminated in an updated master plan for the Church. The first phase of the master plan includes a new 14,000 square foot Children’s Ministry Building programmed with classrooms, a lunch room/library, administrative space and a nursery. The plan is configured in two wings along the campus “Main Street”, breaking down the scale to be compatible with the existing campus, framing outdoor play areas, and creating more opportunities for natural light and outdoor access. The first phase also plans for renovations to a portion of the existing Fellowship Building, creating a new home for administrative functions. The second phase includes construction of a new Multipurpose Building containing a gymnasium/multipurpose room, kitchen, storage, and office space. Once this building is completed, the existing Activities Building can be renovated and repurposed for Adult and Youth Education.
