This 2,500 square foot basement renovation in an existing University of South Carolina engineering building is designed to house an Aeronautics Lab and Flight Simulation Room. The use of glass storefront opens up views into the lab and flight simulation room beyond to showcase the program. Blue accents and signage at the suite entry highlight the expanding program. The lab area is designed to be an open flexible and collaborative space contrasting with the flight simulation room. Color changing LED lighting and custom wall graphics create a dark outer-space like atmosphere for the 10 flight simulators in the simulation room.
