Carver Lyon Elementary School School Addition
This 30,000 square-foot classroom addition at Carver Lyon Elementary School supports the district’s new language immersion program. The addition is conceived as two academic “houses” with each house containing classrooms and flexible learning areas for a specific language program. With a focus on creating a flexible and immersive linguistic experience for students, classrooms are designed with operable partitions that allow them to open to one another or to the adjacent extended learning areas. These extended learning areas provide additional multipurpose space for instruction or group activities and have a direct connection to outdoor learning areas. Visual connections between spaces and abundant daylighting create an environment that supports learning and further enables the objectives of the language immersion program.
